Qarzee Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information the Qarzee app and the qarzee.com website collect, why we use it, who we share it with, and what rights you have.

Qarzee is operated by Awatech, registered in Iraq, address: 60m, Erbil one tower, Erbil, Iraq. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean that company.

1. What Qarzee is

Qarzee is a shared place to record and track debts between two people. Qarzee does not transfer money and does not hold anyone's money. It only keeps records and sends reminders. Every debt and every payment needs the other party's acceptance.

2. Information we collect

a. Account information

  • Name, username, and profile photo (if you add one).
  • Email address and/or mobile number.
  • Password, stored only as a secure hash that no one can read.
  • If you sign in with Google: your Google account identifier and email. We never see your Google password.
  • Language, theme, default currency, and your notification and privacy settings.

b. Debt information

  • Debts you record or are tagged in: amounts, currency, dates, titles, notes, installment schedules, payments, change requests, and the history of these actions.
  • Photos you attach to a debt or payment. Before storing them we remove location (GPS) data and all other hidden photo metadata.

c. Friends

  • Your friends list, friend requests, and people you have blocked.
  • A private code for your QR, which you can reset at any time.

d. Technical information

  • Notification token (to send push notifications), platform (Android/iOS), device name, and app version.
  • Your active sessions and when they were last used.
  • IP addresses in server logs, for security and abuse prevention.
  • Crash reports: device model, OS version, and technical details of the error. Names, phone numbers and amounts are not included.
  • Verification codes (OTP), stored only hashed and for a short time.
  • Usage information: the days you use the app and key steps (such as your first friend or first debt). This stays on our own servers and is analyzed in aggregate.
  • If you joined through someone's invite link, who invited you; and your answer to "How did you hear about Qarzee?" if you choose to answer.

e. Plans and support

  • Your plan: plan type, start and end dates. If you bought a plan outside the app, we record the payment method and reference. We do not store bank card numbers.
  • Messages you send to our support (email or WhatsApp).

What we do not collect

  • Your location.
  • Your phone's contacts.
  • Advertising identifiers. Qarzee has no ads.
  • The camera is used only when you scan a QR code or take a photo yourself.

3. Why we use it

  • To create and protect your account and let you sign in.
  • To show debts to you and to the other party, and to calculate balances.
  • To send notifications and due-date reminders, according to your settings.
  • To send verification codes by email, WhatsApp or SMS.
  • To apply plan limits.
  • For security: preventing fraud, spam and unauthorized access.
  • To fix bugs and improve the app, and to understand how the app is used (in aggregate, not about any individual).
  • To send announcements about the app. You can turn them off in notification settings.
  • To answer support requests.
  • To meet our legal obligations.

We never sell your information and never use it for advertising.

4. Who can see your information

The other party of a debt

This is the core of Qarzee: all information in a shared debt (amounts, dates, notes, photos, payments and history) is visible to both parties of that debt and to no one else.

Other users

  • Your name, username and profile photo are visible to people who search your username or scan your QR code.
  • You can be found by email or mobile number only when someone types exactly the same email or number, and only if you enabled this option. You can turn it off in settings.
  • People you block cannot find you.

Service providers

We share only what each provider needs to do its job:

Legal requirements

We may disclose information if required by law or a valid court order.

5. Where data is stored

Our servers and service providers may be located outside Iraq, for example in the European Union or the United States. In all cases we apply the protections described in this policy.

6. Security

  • All communication between the app and our servers is encrypted with HTTPS.
  • Passwords and verification codes are stored hashed.
  • Photos are not public; they open only through temporary links for the parties of the debt.
  • You can turn on an app lock (PIN or fingerprint), review your active sessions, and sign out of all devices.

No system is 100% secure, but we continuously work to protect your information.

7. Retention and deletion

  • We keep your information while your account is active.
  • Account deletion: you can delete your account in the app (Me → Delete account) or at qarzee.com/account/delete. After deletion:
    • Your name, email, mobile number, profile photo, password and Google link are removed.
    • All sessions and notification tokens are removed.
    • Shared debts remain for the other party, because they are their records too, but your name is shown as "Deleted account". Photos on shared debts also remain as shared evidence.
  • A debt deleted in the app is not destroyed; it stays as a read-only archive for both parties.
  • Server logs and backups are kept only for a limited period and are then deleted automatically.

8. Your rights

  • Access and correction: you can see and edit most of your information in the app.
  • Deletion: as described in section 7.
  • Copy of your data: you can request a copy by email.
  • Notification control: you can turn off any type of notification, including announcements.
  • Discoverability: you can turn off being found by email or number, and reset your QR code.

9. Age

Qarzee is intended for people 18 years or older. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 18, we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

If we make an important change to this policy, we will notify you in the app and update the date at the top of this page.
